Your Team Responsibilities

You'll join First Street's Product team, now part of MSCI's Climate & Sustainability, Physical Risk, organization- working most closely with Data Operations. Together you're responsible for treating First Street's climate risk data as a product- owning its definitions, documentation, accessibility, refresh cadence, and AI-readiness for MSCI's platforms and customers. As the connective layer between the Science PM's team (what the science produces) and the Development PM's team (the platform experience), your team turns raw scientific output into reliable, well-documented, AI-ready data products.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Own the data contract - define and maintain consistent data definitions, schemas, versioning, and changelogs so MSCI teams and customers can build on First Street data without surprises.
  • Drive documentation and accessibility - ensure every dataset is clearly documented, discoverable, and easy to find, understand, and integrate.
  • Manage refresh and lifecycle - set refresh cadence, model-version transitions, and deprecation timelines, with clear communication so downstream users are never caught off guard.
  • Lead AI-readiness - structure and label data so it's machine-consumable and ready for MSCI's and customers' AI and analytics workflows.
  • Define and defend data quality - set standards for accuracy, completeness, freshness, and consistency, and own the roadmap to keep improving them.
  • Integrate First Street data into MSCI - partner with MSCI Climate & Sustainability / Physical Risk teams to align First Street's data products with MSCI platforms, standards, and customer needs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally - work day-to-day with Data Operations, and partner with the Science PM (what the science produces) and Development PM (the platform experience) to take new metrics from science to customer.
  • Stay close to customers - engage directly with MSCI and enterprise customers to learn how they use the data, and translate those needs into a prioritized data-product roadmap.
  • Define success metrics - tie data-product decisions to adoption, retention, data quality, and integration speed across MSCI.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Data product experience - 7+ years in product management, several of them building data products, data platforms, or analytics products where the data itself is the core value (not just UI features).
  • Climate physical risk modeling experience - direct experience with climate physical risk models or data (flood, wildfire, heat, wind), or closely adjacent catastrophe/hazard modeling, and an understanding of how physical risk translates into financial impact.
  • Fluency with data mechanics - hands-on experience with data schemas, APIs, versioning, documentation, and data-quality standards; comfort writing SQL and digging into datasets yourself to answer questions.
  • Ability to work with complex models - you can read and reason about quantitative or scientific models and translate their outputs into clear product decisions and customer-facing language.
  • Customer and partner orientation - a track record of running discovery, listening to enterprise customers, and letting evidence drive prioritization; experience delivering data to partners via APIs or feeds is a strong plus.
  • Cross-functional collaboration - proven success working across science, engineering, and go-to-market teams, and coordinating releases across multiple stakeholders.
  • Clear communication - you can explain a modeling nuance to a non-technical stakeholder and a market need to a scientist with equal clarity, in both writing and conversation.
  • AI-readiness mindset - familiarity with what makes data machine-consumable and ready for AI/analytics workflows, and the instinct to use AI tools to work faster.
  • Domain interest - background or genuine curiosity in climate, geospatial/GIS, insurance, real estate, or financial risk; comfort operating in a regulated or high-scrutiny data environment.
