Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI's Private Capital Solutions business helps institutional investors navigate an increasingly complex investment landscape through independent data, benchmarking, portfolio analytics and integrated technology that support both private markets and total portfolio decision-making.

As a Consultant, you will be central to how clients first experience MSCI's expertise. Working alongside Sales and Client Coverage, you will lead discovery engagements, design tailored demonstrations and support proof-of-concept initiatives, acting as a trusted technical advisor from first conversation through to implementation.

This is a consultative role for someone who combines genuine private markets knowledge with the ability to translate complex client requirements into practical solutions that deliver measurable value.

Your Key Responsibilities

Act as a Trusted Private Markets Advisor

Develop strong relationships with senior investment and operational stakeholders across asset owners, pension funds, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, consultants, fund administrators and private market managers.

Drawing upon your private markets expertise, you will advise clients on topics including performance measurement, valuation methodologies, benchmarking approaches, portfolio construction, regulatory reporting and emerging industry trends.

Success in the role requires the ability to simplify complex investment and technical concepts, communicating effectively with investment professionals, operations teams and technology stakeholders while designing solutions that integrate into enterprise investment workflows.

Own the Total Client Relationship

Take end-to-end ownership of the client relationship across the coverage book, driving retention, satisfaction and growth:

  • Improve year-on-year retention rates by ensuring a consistently high level of client experience and satisfaction across the coverage book.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert across MSCI’s products and methodologies, fielding detailed client inquiries on valuation, risk sensitivity, distributional risk measures and stress testing.
  • Deliver client education and product training, building user proficiency and deepening platform adoption.
  • Own detailed account planning, engaging stakeholders at all levels of the client organization — from day-to-day users to senior decision-makers.
  • Become a Trusted Advisor by applying both product and client expertise to proactively identify solutions and usage patterns that create client value — directly contributing to up-selling and cross-selling opportunities.
  • Provide thought leadership by sharing best practices within the client community and leading workshops and seminars.
  • Keep abreast of the latest industry trends, evolving client needs and the product development roadmap, working with Marketing, Sales, Research and Product Development to ensure MSCI delivers relevant solutions.
  • Travel regularly to client sites within the coverage region.

Collaborate Across MSCI

This role sits at the intersection of Sales, Product, Research and Client Coverage. You will work closely with colleagues across these teams to ensure client feedback informs product development and market opportunities.

You will also:

  • Share competitive and market intelligence with Product Management.
  • Identify emerging client needs and evolving industry trends.
  • Support thought leadership initiatives, client events and industry conferences across APAC.
  • Contribute to the continued evolution of MSCI's private markets offerings through structured client feedback.

Partner across MSCI to deliver integrated solutions spanning private markets, total portfolio analytics and enterprise investment workflows.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

We are seeking an experienced client-facing professional who combines strong private markets knowledge with solution consulting expertise.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4+ years' experience in solution consulting, client advisory or a similar client-facing role within private markets, financial technology or institutional investment management.
  • Strong understanding of private equity, private credit, infrastructure and/or real assets, including fund structures, portfolio monitoring, performance measurement and benchmarking methodologies.
  • Experience working with institutional investors such as pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, consultants, family offices or general partners.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to both business and technical audiences.
  • A structured, analytical approach to problem solving and solution design.
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise sales processes involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Technology & Data

  • Understanding of enterprise data architectures, APIs, MCP-enabled integrations, cloud data platforms and modern investment technology ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with data warehouses, custodians and investment data providers, including how portfolio, transaction and reference data moves across institutional investment workflows.

Education & Credentials

  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related discipline is required. An MBA, CFA, CAIA or equivalent professional qualification is highly regarded.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Additional APAC language capabilities such as Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean would be an advantage.
