Your Team Responsibilities

Liquid Markets Transparency Data (LMTD) provides transparency data for marketable funds within MSCI’s Private Capital Solutions product line. We are at a pivotal moment: automation here is not a catchphrase but a carefully planned transformation that is already underway. We are now looking to add capacity so we can move more work, at greater pace, without trading away quality. You would be joining a team that is actively reshaping how this data is captured, validated, and deliveredwith a direct hand in that change.

The Financial Data Associate within the Liquid Markets Transparency Data team is a hybrid role by design: roughly half the work is hands-on data processing, onboarding and client support, and half is transformation – applying AI and automation to make that work faster, more accurate, and more scalable. On the transformation side, the Financial Data Associate uses AI tools and automation to improve the speed, accuracy, and scale of how positions and exposures data is captured, validated, and delivered, and is expected to adopt and help refine these tools as part of day-to-day work. On the processing side, the Associate manages, reviews, and resolves queries on positions and exposures data (within funds and portfolios) in accordance with established SLAs and precision standards, and provides support to clients. This includes ongoing work status and update reporting to multiple channels, project management and coordination of supplemental data research programs, ad-hoc client- or product-driven data reconciliation, data optimization, and new tooling and feature integrations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire a thorough understanding of the Total Plan Manager platform with a focus on Liquid Market and Private Capital transparency data, as well as the broader MSCI Private Capital Solutions suite, and how our products fit into client’s organizations and their processes.
  • Use AI-assisted tools (e.g. large language models, automated extraction and reconciliation platforms) to accelerate the capture, transformation, and quality review of positions, and exposures data, while applying sound judgment to validate outputs and escalate exceptions.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation to recurring data tasks, and partner with internal teams to pilot, refine, and scale these solutions responsibly.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the asset management industry to deliver creative solutions to our clients. Provide best practices and work with clients to develop their system use strategy.
  • Provide first-tier data support, addressing fund-level data-related inquiries via email and Microsoft Teams meetings for key clients.
  • Coordinate with teams internally to achieve end to end fulfillment of requests. This involves determining and defining each project plan, scoping, and objective setting for each client involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Develop various documents, materials, and reporting templates to facilitate the successful execution of each client’s data requirements, utilizing best practices, techniques, and standards.
  • Support the smooth execution of clients’ transparency data requirements, including managing custom data needs.
  • Focus on bringing stakeholders across departments (e.g. Data, Engineering, Product, Consulting) to address gaps and pain-points in data fulfillment and provide ongoing maintenance and support via client service or clients directly as necessary.
  • Proactively examine all data, processes, and technologies to evaluate the current state and critical problems for clients.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or similar field a plus, but not required).
  • 2-4 years of experience in finance, accounting, investment, data, or operations.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI and agentic tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT, Replit), including their use to prototype and build lightweight automations. Hands-on experience here is a strong advantage, though not a hard requirement.
  • Comfort working with data automation and a willingness to learn new technologies as they emerge.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy when working with fund, portfolio, position, and exposure data.
  • Experience with process improvement or hands-on data manipulation (e.g. querying/scripting, no-code automation) a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Portfolio analysis, performance measurement, or domain expertise in investment analytics a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel a plus.
  • Progress towards CFA, CAIA, CIPM, or FRM is a plus.
  • Training, consulting, or client presentation experience a plus.
