The Storage Engineer sits within the Technology & Data Services Infrastructure Engineering team. The team owns the design, delivery, and long-term integrity of enterprise storage platforms - NetApp ONTAP and Pure Storage across multiple global datacentres, Cloud and regional offices. Working closely with compute, networking and application teams. The team drives platform strategy, technology adoption, and engineering-led automation across the storage estate.

• Architect, design, and implement storage solutions across NetApp ONTAP (C-Mode, MetroCluster) and Pure Storage (FlashArray, FlashBlade), covering both on-premises and cloud-connected environments.
• Design and deliver storage DR strategies aligned to application RPO/RTO requirements using SnapMirror, SVM DR, SnapVault, and Pure snapshot technologies.
• Lead platform upgrades — software, hardware, and microcode — across both vendors, owning end-to-end planning, vendor coordination, and post-change validation.
• Design and implement Kubernetes-attached storage via Astra Trident, including protocol selection, tiering, and persistent volume strategy.
• Build and maintain automation for provisioning, capacity management, and operational workflows using Python and IaC tooling (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent)
• Drive reduction of manual toil through scripted workflows and self-service enablement; own the automation backlog for the storage domain.
• Contribute to storage architecture decisions for new workloads, technology evaluations, and proof-of-concept assessments as the storage SME.
• Engage business and application stakeholders on storage requirements, capacity planning, and platform roadmaps. Produce engineering documentation, architecture decision records, and executive-facing summaries.
• Own RCA delivery for storage-related incidents and drive permanent fix implementation by enforcing safe change practices and contribute to platform resilience.

• Deep hands-on expertise with NetApp ONTAP (C-Mode, SVM, SnapMirror, SnapVault, FlexClone, MetroCluster) and Pure Storage (FlashArray, FlashBlade, Purity OS).
• Proven experience with Astra Trident for dynamic Kubernetes storage provisioning and solid working knowledge across NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, and FC SAN protocols.
• Proficiency in Python for storage automation — REST API integrations (Pure, ONTAP), reporting tooling, and scripted workflows — alongside hands-on experience with Terraform or Ansible in a GitOps model.
• Working knowledge of Cisco MDS and/or Brocade SAN fabric management including zoning and host masking.
• Grounding in ITIL practice areas and experience with enterprise ITSM platforms (ServiceNow preferred); comfortable operating across both Agile delivery and BAU contexts.
• Strong communicator able to translate technical depth into stakeholder-facing outputs; experience producing architecture documentation, runbooks, and exec summaries in a globally distributed environment.
