Your Team Responsibilities

The MSCI Index Research & Development team is part of the MSCI Research and Development organization and is responsible for the ownership and evolution of all index methodologies that cover the Equity, Fixed Income and Private Assets classes. The team also is centrally focused on improving product quality through close collaboration with the Product, Client Coverage, Technology and Data Services organizations. The team is currently based in Geneva, Mumbai, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Monterrey and Manila.

Your Key Responsibilities

As an Intern of Index Research & Development (Index R&D) in Monterrey, you will 

  1. support the Private Assets Index R&D team on index quality, methodology and publications related topics.
  2. work on operational improvement projects, research based charting tools/analysis on real estate property and property fund indexes.
  3. collaborate on annual representativeness study on global market size estimations.
  4. collaborate on the automation of recurring workflows and reporting processes, leveraging AI-assisted tooling to improve efficiency and scalability across the team's research and publication pipeline.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

Specific Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent English communication skills are a must.
  • Financial industry knowledge.
  • Advanced Excel, Python, and programming skills; data visualization techniques (Power BI).
  • AI tool experience (e.g. LLMs or coding assistants) is a plus.
  • Real estate asset class knowledge and key performance metrics is a plus.

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor's degree students with at least 6 months remaining before graduation (candidates with more time until graduation are equally welcome) and a GPA of 90/100 or above.
  • Studies abroad or previous work experience is strongly desired.

  • A self-starter and highly motivated individual, with the ability to work individually and within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects under tight, short-term deadlines.
  • Ability to work efficiently with diverse cultures on a global team.
  • Understanding of international financial institutions and global financial markets.
