Your Team Responsibilities

The Sales Technology Team at MSCI plays a critical role enabling internal teams to manage and execute business processes across the Opportunity to Order value chain (Opportunity pipeline management and Contract Lifecycle Management) as well as Order to Cash processes (integrations with ERP). Salesforce is the strategic platform used by Sales, Client Service, Sales Operations, Marketing, Product Management, Finance, and other business units to achieve their business objectives.

We are seeking a Vice President to lead our Middle Office Automation and AI initiative. This leader will be responsible for driving the strategic vision and hands-on execution of automation, tech debt reduction, and AI-driven transformation across all Sales Operations processes. The role combines strategic leadership with active development work, owning the technical roadmap while also building solutions that eliminate manual workflows in deal booking, contract generation, financial close processes, and client permissioning.

The ideal candidate is both a visionary leader and a skilled technologist who can architect scalable solutions, mentor a development team, and serve as the primary liaison between Sales Operations, Finance, IT, and executive leadership.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the strategic roadmap for Sales Operations automation, tech debt reduction, and AI integration across Salesforce and connected systems.
  • Lead the identification, prioritization, and elimination of manual processes in deal booking, contract generation, financial close support, and client permissioning workflows.
  • Architect and develop scalable automation solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flows, and AI/ML capabilities (Agentforce, GPT integrations, predictive analytics).
  • Own the technical vision for reducing tech debt across the Salesforce ecosystem, including legacy code refactoring, architecture modernization, and platform optimization.
  • Serve as the primary technical leader and people manager for the Sales Operations Automation team, mentoring the team members.
  • Partner with Sales Operations, Finance, Legal, and Client Service stakeholders to map current-state processes, identify automation opportunities, and deliver measurable efficiency gains.
  • Design and implement AI-powered solutions for intelligent contract generation, automated deal validation, predictive deal routing, and smart client onboarding workflows.
  • Establish development standards, code review processes, CI/CD pipelines, and quality assurance frameworks for all automation deliverables.
  • Develop and present business cases, ROI analyses, and progress reports to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Manage vendor relationships and evaluate third-party tools and technologies that complement the automation and AI strategy.
  • Perform hands-on development work including Apex, LWC, Flows, API integrations, and data model design alongside the development team.
  • Stay current with Salesforce releases, AI/ML advancements, and industry best practices to continuously evolve the automation strategy.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

Desired Skills

  • Deep expertise in Salesforce platform architecture with strong knowledge of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and CPQ.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business processes into scalable technical solutions with measurable ROI.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience building and mentoring high-performing technical teams.
  • Excellent executive communication skills with the ability to present technical strategies to non-technical senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities and a bias for action.
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies and a vision for applying them to business process automation.
  • Deep understanding of Sales Operations workflows including deal booking, contract lifecycle, revenue recognition, and client permissioning.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and competing priorities.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Salesforce development and architecture experience, preferably with following certifications - Platform Developer I & II, Application Architect or System Architect preferred. AI/ML certifications a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Expert in Apex, LWC, Flows, SOQL/SOSL, REST/SOAP APIs, Salesforce CLI/DX, and integration patterns. Experience with AI tools (Einstein AI, OpenAI/GPT APIs, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience automating Sales Operations, Order-to-Cash, or Contract Lifecycle Management processes.
