Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI Equity Indexes are maintained with the objective of reflecting the evolution of the underlying equity markets on a timely basis.

The Corporate Events Team is responsible for daily maintenance of index by reflecting impact of ongoing corporate events like M&As, spin-offs, bankruptcies, reorganizations and other corporate actions (e.g. stock splits, rights offerings, dividends, etc.) following the principles of replicability, consistency, continuity and minimizing turnover.

Depending on the nature of the corporate action there may be changes in index memberships, weights, size, style and industry classifications.

The team is responsible for timely identification, review and assessing the replication considerations of corporate action related changes in client portfolios in order to facilitate appropriate maintenance of the Equity Indexes.

The role is expected to leverage approved Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to enhance analytical depth, improve operational efficiency, support documentation, perform quality checks, and identify anomalies or risks in corporate action processing. The incumbent will exercise sound professional judgment, adhere to MSCI’s governance and risk standards, and contribute to the responsible and effective adoption of AI across Corporate Events workflows.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Client Servicing -
    • Collaborating globally for delivering expedite and high-quality responses to asset managers/traders' queries. In some instances (if needed) have communication over the phone in order to manage clients' long term relationship. Utilize AI-assisted research and drafting tools to improve response accuracy and turnaround time while ensuring appropriate human review.
    • Review and approve client announcements detailing upcoming changes in the MSCI Indexes, supported by AI-based validation and consistency checks.
    • Training client's on MSCI methodologies, corporate action treatment, products, etc.
  • Methodology and Process ownership -
    • Act as a core member of a global decision committee to approve complex and/or large corporate actions implementation and methodological changes in keeping relevance to the security markets and clients' need.
    • Implementing enhancements to the MSCI Corporate Events Methodology, processes and applications.
    • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to apply AI, machine learning, and automation to enhance scalability, consistency, and control across Corporate Events processes.
  • Cross-functional participation -
    • Contribute in the multi-team implementation of the Quarterly Index Rebalancing process
    • Participate in designing, scoping, implementing, etc. of new product launches relating to MSCI Indexes, leveraging AI tools for data analysis, testing, and documentation.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 7+ experience in the financial sector with direct experience in equity markets
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics or Mathematics (Including equivalents of CA, CFA, FRM, MMS, MBA). Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Highly motivated individual with critical thinking, curiosity, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse cultures in a global team; sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural norms/styles. Flexible in working hours
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated track record in people management and handling of challenging environment
  • Ability to understand impact of corporate actions on passive and active fund managers portfolio
  • Strong excel, word and power point skills and familiarity with automation, data analysis, or AI-assisted tools.
