Your Team Responsibilities

We are developing cutting-edge tools to identify and analyze climate change risk exposure of companies and real estate investments. Our models simulate natural and physical risks into insightful metrics for investors. A cornerstone of our climate modeling capabilities is our GeoSpatial dataset of asset locations, which is integrated into multiple models such as physical risk and biodiversity risk.

The team is seeking a Remote Sensing Researcher to contribute to the development of geospatial tools and models to expand our coverage of physical and natural assets and their associated attributes. This is a technical role requiring deep expertise in remote sensing and image processing, as well as strong computational skills.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute and co-lead projects as part of the R&D effort of novel approaches to extracting information such as building features and attributes from satellite imagery
  • Design and prototype scalable spatial models and analytics using Python leveraging geospatial libraries and machine learning / deep learning frameworks.
  • Develop and evaluate remote sensing models for tasks such as object detection, semantic segmentation, and change detection to derive asset-level features.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and work with engineers to deploy models into production.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 5+ years of experience working with remote sensing data including SAR and multispectral data.
  • Strong background in computer vision or machine learning using common deep learning frameworks like PyTorch, Tensorflow or Keras.
  • Advanced coding skills in Python or R, with familiarity with data science libraries such as pandas, numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, tidyverse.
  • Deep expertise in geospatial libraries (GDAL, OGR, rasterio, geopandas, xarray, rioxarray), including datacube-based analysis workflows.
  • Experience with parallel computing frameworks such as Dask or multiprocessing is desirable.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and cloud-native geospatial workflows are desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Geography, or Environmental Science, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
