Your Team Responsibilities

The MSCI Climate Production Data team delivers high-quality, differentiated climate datasets that support the construction of key MSCI products, including ESG Ratings, Equity Indexes, and Risk Models.

The ideal candidate will have strong familiarity with emerging sustainability and climate data trends, evolving accounting regulations, and leading global standards.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze company-level data points and metrics from consolidated financial statements, annual reports, CSR reports, and other disclosures.
  • Procure and process information on globally listed companies by:
    • Leveraging multiple sources such as annual reports, CSR reports, corporate websites, quantitative data feeds, and web-crawling tools.
    • Working with quantitative indicators, key performance metrics, and sustainability-related data.
    • Covering a broad set of topics, including financial risk, corporate governance, and sustainability.
    • Applying both rules-based and qualitative assessments, including written summaries.
  • Interpret methodological frameworks and ensure data is captured and delivered in accordance with standard guidelines.
  • Transform raw data into meaningful insights that reflect a company’s climate exposures.
  • Collaborate with internal committees and MSCI ESG researchers to propose methodology enhancements in line with industry developments.
  • Establish, review, and monitor production processes, including managing third-party data providers and overseeing vendor escalations.
  • Develop KPIs to measure platform usage, maintain quality standards, and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech), Finance, Statistics, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of climate-related regulations and frameworks (e.g., carbon offsets, TCFD, ISSB, IPCC, UNFCCC).
  • Knowledge of equities, fixed income, or broader financial markets is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to process and interpret large datasets efficiently.
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and support team members.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Python/SQL is an advantage.
