Your Team Responsibilities

The Vice President – Float and Index Eligibility (FIE) will lead the Manila-based FIE team within MSCI’s Index Data Operations (IDO). The role is accountable for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, accurate, and timely data used for index eligibility screening, free float calculation, and corporate event processing, which directly impacts the construction and maintenance of MSCI’s global indexes.

This leadership position requires a deep understanding of equity data, strong operational oversight, and the ability to drive data innovation and transformations. The VP will partner with global teams including Index Research, Product, and Technology to strengthen governance, scale operations, and deliver operational excellence. The role will also be critical in developing Manila as a centre of excellence for Float and Index Eligibility operations.

Your Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead and manage the FIE team in Manila, providing direction, mentorship, and development for senior subject matter experts (SMEs) and analysts.
  • Translate MSCI’s index methodologies and data quality standards into operational practices, ensuring consistency and accuracy across global locations.
  • Represent the FIE function in senior stakeholder forums and global governance discussions.
  • Build a strong succession and talent pipeline to support future scalability.

Operational Excellence

  • Lead the transformation of FIE data operations through AI-driven efficiency and insight. Redesign processes to embed intelligence, automation, and scalability at every stage — from data ingestion to validation and delivery.
  • Oversee end-to-end FIE data workflows, including eligibility screening, float updates, IPO and lock-up checks, and corporate event validations, ensuring precision, transparency, and timeliness for Index Reviews and Rebalances.
  • Build and implement advanced data quality frameworks leveraging AI-based validation, anomaly detection, and risk scorecards to proactively identify and mitigate data integrity risks.
  • Partner with Data Engineering and Technology teams to integrate AI and ML capabilities into production systems, enhancing standardization, predictability, and self-healing workflows.
  • Champion continuous process improvement and innovation, using analytics, automation, and AI insights to optimize throughput, reduce manual dependencies, and elevate the overall standard of operational excellence

Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to MSCI methodology, regulatory standards, and internal compliance frameworks.
  • Oversee vendor performance and manage data provider escalations.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and post-mortem reviews for data exceptions, ensuring accountability and preventive measures.
  • Support Index and Data Committees with insights and presentations on FIE data trends, quality metrics, and process improvements.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Index Research to support methodology enhancements and respond to client or regulatory queries related to float and eligibility.
  • Collaborate with global counterparts to harmonize processes, enhance automation, and optimize capacity allocation across regions.
  • Serve as a key escalation point for operational or client-impacting issues.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Education: Master’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related discipline.
Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or MBA are preferred.
  • Experience: 12–15+ years in financial services, capital markets, or data operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of equity markets, corporate actions, index methodologies, free float rules, and eligibility criteria.
  • Proven ability to lead global teams and drive organizational change and process transformation.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, data governance frameworks, and automation programs.
  • Proficiency in Excel, AI-tools and working knowledge of Python, SQL, and Power BI for data validation and analytics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; capable of influencing stakeholders across geographies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, global environment.
