Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI calculates over 200,000 equity indexes on a daily basis using information of more than 25,000 securities belonging to 85 countries worldwide. These indexes include both Real Time and End of Day indexes calculated throughout the trading day.

This is a position with the Index Product Operations team which is responsible for the daily monitoring, production and distribution of both real time and end of day Indexes with teams currently based in Budapest, Monterrey, and Manila. This is a very critical and an extremely sensitive function and is tasked with maintaining close to 100% timeliness & quality for our Indexes that is covering 6 working days a week with 24 hours per day.

Your Key Responsibilities

This is an associate position with the Index Product Operations team with initial job responsibilities being the execution of the day-to-day tasks as they relate to the calculation and dissemination of the MSCI equity and fixed income indexes. This role requires proactive monitoring of the Real Time/End of Day prices of securities and related market/company news & events, ensuring timely delivery of both the real time and end of day indexes while maintaining the highest quality standards; addressing day to day operational issues in a timely manner; recommending procedural and technical enhancements as appropriate & involvement in business driven and infrastructure projects.

 

  • Ensure accurate and timely calculation and delivery of all Indexes and related products by executing daily production procedures, controls, and quality assurance checks within strict deadlines.
  • Monitor market activity, analyze structural changes, and assess impacts on Index calculations and client portfolios.
  • Manage data processes including corporate actions, exchange calendars, prices, and securities from various vendors
  • Maintain and update the index database in line with changes in constituents, coverage, or methodology.
  • Identifying and resolving production issues, coordinating with stakeholders, and contributing to root cause analysis and permanent remediation.
  • Addressing client queries and collaborating with Client Service teams to assist in resolution of client queries.
  • Liaise with data vendors and stock exchanges as needed
  • Review and enhance procedures to improve efficiency, scalability, and support for existing products and new launches.
  • Contribute to projects by developing or reviewing business specifications and performing testing for client or internal product requirements.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics or Mathematics
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to innovate beyond BAU operations.
  • High attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior knowledge of spreadsheet tools
  • Strong technical and operational mindset, with preferred experience in automation (Python, SQL, or similar), workflow orchestration, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Snowflake)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools, APIs, and automation platforms, and an interest in applying them to production workflows.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure is a must
  • Highly developed organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working in a Global team environment is an advantage
  • Demonstrated experience in incident/problem management
  • Committed to a full-time onsite work arrangement
  • Flexible in working hours including working over Sunday and public holidays
