This data serves as the foundation for MSCI’s Sustainability and Climate products, models, and indexes. With a global team of 400+ internal experts and external partners, the team ensures high-quality, timely, and methodologically sound data through rigorous validation and stakeholder collaboration.

As MSCI continues to innovate, the Data Collection team is leading the transformation of data operations through AI. By integrating generative AI, intelligent agents, and scalable automation, the team is redefining how data is sourced, processed, and validated. These efforts not only enhance data quality and efficiency but also position MSCI’s infrastructure to be more agile, intelligent, and aligned with the evolving needs of clients and markets.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a member of MSCI’s Data Collection team, you are expected to have a strong interest in sustainability and climate trends, with a forward-thinking approach to data operations. You will help redefine how data is sourced, processed, and delivered by applying AI tools to extract insights, automate quality checks, and improve data workflows. Your role includes assessing data availability, monitoring market developments, and contributing to the design of scalable AI models and intelligent agents that enhance data accuracy and efficiency. The following are the key responsibilities:

  • Drive Insightful Research: Proactively source, analyze, and process data sources, leveraging generative AI to extract meaningful insights and evaluate feasibility of onboarding and product fitment
  • Unlock the Power of Information: Work with a vast array of data sources—including annual reports, company websites, quantitative data feeds, web crawlers, and news articles—to transform unstructured information into actionable intelligence.
  • Enhance Data Quality & Efficiency: Drive initiatives that improve data quality diagnostics, reducing manual intervention through reduction of false positives and increasing operational efficiency.
  • Revolutionize Data Collection with AI: Design and implement AI-assisted, scalable models that streamline data sourcing from multiple channels, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
  • Monitor sustainability and climate trends: Assess data availability, relevance, and alignment with evolving stakeholder needs, leveraging AI tools to identify emerging patterns and opportunities for data enhancement.
  • Automate & Scale Data Methodologies: Develop innovative, automation-friendly data collection methodologies that convert unstructured data into structured insights through advanced AI-driven “electronification.”
  • Engineer Next-Gen AI Models: Build and refine generative AI-powered data extraction models, ensuring continuous improvement in accuracy, efficiency, and performance.
  • Lead & Optimize AI Agents: Build, Manage and enhance AI agents, serving as a validation layer to improve outputs and refine AI-generated insights through expert feedback.
  • Shape the Future of Data Operations: Partner with technology teams to design, optimize, and engineer cutting-edge data workflows and operational processes.
  • Collaborate for Impact: Work closely with internal stakeholders and downstream teams to understand data needs, define quality control frameworks, and ensure seamless data delivery.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 7+ years of experience in data collection, research, and data management. Good understanding of sustainability and climate-related data trends, frameworks, and industry standards.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency is a must, especially in handling large volumes of data efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to create impactful presentations and conduct in-depth research.
  • AI and Automation Experience: Proactive mindset toward applying foundational AI tools or techniques to drive process improvements and operational efficiency.
  • Technical Exposure: Familiarity with tools such as PandasPower BI, and Jupyter Notebooks is a plus.
  • Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of equities, financial markets, and public company disclosures (e.g., 10-Ks, annual reports).
