Your Team Responsibilities

Join MSCI’s innovative and fast-growing Carbon Markets Data Science team, dedicated to delivering cutting-edge research and transformative data products for global carbon markets. This role bridges domain expertise in carbon markets with applied data science to strengthen the analytics behind carbon pricing, forecasting and modelling. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and research teams to build credible, data-driven market intelligence.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative research on carbon credit markets, including supply-demand dynamics, pricing and forecasting
  • Apply advanced data science techniques to uncover insights and identify trends across project types, markets and geographies
  • Design, develop and refine pricing and forecasting models
  • Build and improve robust, scalable data pipelines to strengthen data quality, reliability and structure
  • Deliver actionable insights to internal product teams and clients through data-driven analysis
  • Contribute to research publications, white papers, and market commentary
  • Partner with data engineering teams to streamline workflows and optimize data processes

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Strong technical proficiency in Python and SQL for data analysis and transformation
  • Solid understanding of data architecture and best practices in structuring data pipelines
  • Experience working with structured and semi-structured data; knowledge of cloud-based data environments (e.g., GCP, AWS) is a plus
  • Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, Dash, or other visualization frameworks
  • Experience with time-series data science, econometric modelling or statistical inference
  • Ability to work effectively in distributed, multicultural teams with clear and professional English communication
