Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI ESG Research provides in-depth research, ratings and analysis of the environmental, social and governance-related business practices of thousands of companies worldwide. Our research is designed to provide critical insights that can help institutional investors identify risks and opportunities that traditional investment research may overlook.

Your Key Responsibilities

MSCI ESG Research is seeking a senior Sustainability Researcher to join our team in Sydney. In particular, we are looking reinforce our analytical capabilities and expertise in assessing Sustainability trends (primarily) and in some instances Climate trends in ANZ market and mining sector.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • To regularly publish quality research content and analyze emerging Sustainability issues in Australia, including relevant and actionable insight on companies and industries;
  • To collaborate with a wide range of teams (equity research, multi-asset class research, index, analytics) to produce innovative analytical models that reflect regional specifics;
  • To represent MSCI as a credible thought leader with strong point of view at conferences, external events and strategic client meetings;
  • To represent MSCI as the spokesperson of sustainability research in local media and regulator engagement.
  • To continuously improve how we think, how we model, and how we develop tools and solutions for ESG investors globally and support the development of new products and services related to Sustainability investing and climate change

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 7+ years professional experience in a related field (investment research, financial services, consulting, industry experience, policy research);
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with extensive experience in data analysis and quantitative models 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to communicate complex ideas in an accessible way and tell a compelling story
  • Strong presentation skills, both spoken and visual
  • Experience with Sustainability analysis is not a pre-requisite, but candidate should have a demonstrated interest in how sustainability & climate issues are integrated into investment decisions
  • A Bachelors’ degree (required), advanced degree (Masters or PhD) or industry accreditation (preferred);
  • Market insights for Australia are welcomed
  • Mining or material sector expertise is preferred
  • Familiarity with MSCI sustainability tools, Python, Matlab or Geospatial data modeling tools a plus
