Your Team Responsibilities

We are looking for a sharp, analytical, and motivated Financial Modeler to join the MSCI Climate Risk Center, a multidisciplinary team of Climate Researchers, Financial Modelers, and Software Engineers. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of climate-related finance by building practical financial models that translate physical climate risk data into actionable metrics for global investors. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between complex environmental data and financial decision-making, helping to ensure that upstream risk signals are effectively integrated into real-world investment workflows.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop tools such as methodologies, models, metrics, and interactive applications to assess climate risks related to investments.

  • Work on software and data science projects related to climate risks, including data analysis, statistical analysis, and software development.

  • Collaborate closely within a cross-functional team, including other research team members, industry analysts, technology teams, and client-facing teams.

  • Communicate your work clearly with internal stakeholders and clients, and support client inquiries on methodologies and data.

  • Follow agile development practices and rapid prototyping techniques.

  • Anticipate challenges and opportunities, and adapt quickly to evolving requirements.

  • Write and maintain clear documentation and validation materials for models and methodologies.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Solid understanding of  financial economics, with a strong interest in applying financial concepts to climate risk.

  • Demonstrated quantitative skills, ideally with experience handling structured data and applying basic statistical methods.

  • Familiarity with Python

  • Strong interest in bridging climate science and finance, with a focus on building practical, usable financial tools.

  • Comfortable working in a cross-functional environment alongside researchers, technologists, and client-facing teams.

  • Clear and effective communication skills, especially when explaining technical work to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proactive mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to evolving challenges and iterate based on feedback.
