Your Team Responsibilities

Our team is responsible for forward-looking metrics helping investors anticipate the future of the low-carbon transition, including our flagship Implied Temperature Rise (ITR)

Leveraging software-driven approaches, we assist financial institutions in tracking low-carbon transition progress, both from an impact and transition risk perspective

Our mission is a big one and we’re looking for talented people to join us. We are looking for a sharp, energetic and organized person who thrives in a fast-paced, fun and challenging environment to extend our existing research team.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of new cutting-edge transition finance metrics and client-facing tools (e.g. drill-down apps), with a team of talented data scientists.

  • Ensure operational excellence in both quality assurance and delivery process of existing transition finance modelled data.

  • Act as a central contact point between R&D and Engineering at MSCI Climate Risk Centre, ensuring technology developments and model production run smoothly.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • At least 5 years proven experience developing software models and production code with clear real-world context (e.g. financial analytics models), using object-oriented-programming Python and numerical computing libraries such as NumPy and Pandas to write maintainable, testable code.

  • Demonstrated ability to acquire non-technology context knowledge to serve best model use cases and avoid unintended consequences.

  • Demonstrated proficient skills with GitHub and modern version control workflows including effective debugging.

  • Demonstrated experience with data-intensive applications and scalable, cloud-native architectures (Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Solid understanding and application of software testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, unittest, BDD) and CI/CD practices.
  • Familiarity with Linux command and eagerness to learn.

  • Demonstrated ability to persevere independently in the face of significant technology challenges.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Data science skills are a plus, not a must.

  • Strong interest in climate change is a must, climate change expertise is not (you will learn on the job).

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
