Your Team Responsibilities

At MSCI, technology powers our global insights. We’re building the next-generation platform that enables our products and clients to move faster, integrate smarter, and scale securely.

As a Senior Technical Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and delivering new platform capabilities built on modern microservices, cloud infrastructure, and AI-assisted solutions. You’ll work with emerging technologies like the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enhance how services interact with AI models and automate integration flows.

You’ll lead through hands-on engineering — writing code, guiding design, and mentoring others — while shaping the evolution of MSCI’s secure, intelligent, and scalable platform ecosystem.

Join us to build the foundation for MSCI’s AI-enabled future.

Your Key Responsibilities

At MSCI, we’re re-engineering our technology foundations to enable AI-driven innovation, seamless integrations, and secure scalability across our global platforms.

We’re seeking a Senior Technical Lead who combines deep engineering expertise with architectural vision to help drive this transformation. You’ll design and deliver microservices and APIs that power next-generation platform capabilities — including AI-assisted workflows, automated integration patterns, and model interaction layers built with the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, intelligent automation, and modern application design.

  • Architect and build scalable, secure microservices in Go, Node.js, or Java, powering new platform and AI integration capabilities.
  • Design and deliver cloud-native services that leverage AI models and context-aware APIs to improve system intelligence and automation.
  • Collaborate globally with product, architecture, and AI teams to identify opportunities for embedding intelligence into the platform’s design.
  • Integrate modern protocols like MCP (Model Context Protocol) to enable richer AI context sharing and dynamic system behavior.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, driving excellence in code quality, architecture, and delivery.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery — from design through deployment — ensuring scalability, resilience, and observability.
  • Champion secure and policy-driven architecture, leveraging SSO federation, OAuth2/OpenID Connect, and Open Policy Agent (OPA).

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 10–15 years of backend or platform engineering experience.
  • Proven experience building and deploying microservices in production within a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Expertise in Go, Node.js, or Java, with deep understanding of distributed systems and API design.
  • Experience integrating or leveraging AI/ML models or services within production systems.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and a strong belief in data-driven, intelligent engineering.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with a track record of technical mentorship.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar frameworks for AI-context sharing.
  • Understanding of authentication and federation standards (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML).
  • Experience with Open Policy Agent (OPA) or other policy-as-code models.
  • Exposure to vendor API ecosystems and secure platform integrations.
  • Passion for using AI to augment engineering processes and platform intelligence.
