Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI is looking for an exceptional individual to join the Private Assets Index Research & Development (PA Index R&D) team. The team is part of MSCI's Global Research and Development team and focuses on conducting proprietary research and strategic product development to address investment problems and support the growth of MSCI's private assets product offerings. The team utilizes various analytical tools and methods to develop new index/product methodologies in private capital and real assets, analyze alternative data sets, and integrate them into MSCI products. The group collaborates closely with other teams within Research and Development and across the firm to execute the research roadmap.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new index/products and analysis tools using Python/R/SQL.
  • Manage and conduct research on financial statements and other supplemental information to develop new methodologies and build robust, client-ready prototypes.
  • Support research publications/projects (such as private capital/real assets research, webinars, client advisory panels) and contribute to their success from initial concept through research, development, and client consultations to product implementation.
  • Manage and carry out back testing, research, and analysis of private asset indexes using historical data, relevant factors/models, and index construction tools.
  • See investment challenges from the clients’ perspective and understand how our offering can solve their needs.
  • Provide people and thought leadership for a regional/local functional group.
  • Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and people.
  • Generate and implement commercially sound ideas that create future value.
  • Engage with immediate and wider teams, facilitating joint projects with other departments.
  • Champion our values by acting as a role model, building team cohesiveness, and engaging others to be accountable to common goals.
  • Lead global teams and people from diverse cultures/backgrounds effectively. Support learning and career development, and encourage staff to take on new responsibilities.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, quantitative finance, or other highly quantitative subject.
  • 8years of experience as a quantitative researcher in private markets.
  • Strong experience in programming, preferably in an R or Python ecosystem.
  • Strong knowledge of financial data best practices and hands-on client consultation/communication experience.
  • Understanding of the private market analysis and investment process.
  • Familiarity with legacy Burgiss systems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
