Your Team Responsibilities

The team is part of Pricing Research, within MSCI's Research & Development organization. We are responsible for performance attribution research, including model and product development. We work with the front office of asset managers, asset owners and other clients to help them understand the outcomes of their investment decisions and explain the drivers of portfolio return relative to the benchmark. The team is responsible for understanding client needs, developing pricing, risk and return attribution models, specifying product feature enhancements, writing research papers and representing MSCI as technical experts in client interactions.

Your Key Responsibilities

MSCI is looking for an exceptional individual to join the Pricing Research team. The successful candidate will work with various stakeholders, including quantitative researchers, data teams, developers, as well as sales and client coverage teams. The position offers a unique opportunity to work with complex datasets, develop new models and products, publish research results and communicate with clients directly.

 

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Analyze large datasets using statistical methods and data science tools
  • Research market trends, develop new models and improve existing models
  • Build prototypes of new features and demonstrate value-add to clients
  • Develop software tools/packages that support our modelling activity and increase productivity
  • Leverage AI to increase efficiency and build solutions for our clients
  • Drive project delivery from assessing client needs to completing feature enhancements
  • Publish high quality research in blog posts, research papers, etc.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders (data teams, developers, quality assurance teams, sales, client coverage)
  • Deliver presentations to various internal and external audiences, including clients
  • Write technical specifications and client-facing documentations

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • A Masters degree or PhD in a quantitative field (Finance, Economics, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or similar)
  • Programming and data analysis skills in a suitable language (Python, Matlab, R or similar) and strong ability to translate abstract concepts into algorithms
  • Solid quantitative skills and an understanding of statistics and probability concepts
  • Solid data analysis and visualisation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • A self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and dedication to quality
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills (in English), presentation skills
  • Research experience in a quantitative field is desirable
  • Financial services industry experience is not essential, but a keen interest in financial markets is required
  • Fixed income modelling experience is desirable
