MSCI ESG Research is seeking to expand its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Client Consultant team by adding a Carbon Markets specialist. We are looking for a suitable candidate to join our New York office. As a Client Consultant, you will be part of a team recognized as a leading provider of Sustainability and Climate research to institutional investors globally.

In this role, you will manage relationships with a territory of clients, including some of the world’s largest companies and investors. You will gain in-depth knowledge of MSCI Sustainability and Climate products, as well as clients' business lines and investment processes. Your primary responsibility will be to guide clients in leveraging our solutions across asset classes, with a particular emphasis on Carbon Markets. You will combine this expertise with insights and best practices to deliver exceptional value to client organizations.

As a Client Consultant, your performance will be evaluated based on several factors, including account renewal rates, proactive client management and communication, contract value growth, and pre-sales collaboration with the sales and client service teams. Once clients begin using MSCI products, you will take ownership of their experience. This involves providing proactive educational support, expert guidance on Carbon Markets and other services, and participating in the client renewal process to ensure satisfaction and retention.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve Renewal and Retention Goals: Meet or exceed target renewal and retention rates by delivering exceptional client service.
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Contribute to revenue growth by providing outstanding service and identifying opportunities to expand client engagement.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert: Act as the domain expert for MSCI's Sustainability suite of products and services, including Carbon Markets solutions.
  • Client Support and Issue Resolution: Manage client inquiries and ensure timely resolution of issues using Salesforce.com and other internal tools.
  • Monitor Client Satisfaction: Lead initiatives and projects to support the consultant team in maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate with the consultant team to identify at-risk accounts and develop strategic plans to retain clients and forecast potential revenue risks. Partner with cross-functional teams to address concerns promptly.
  • Account Management: Develop and execute account management plans tailored to client needs.
  • Account Health Monitoring: Conduct regular health checks on accounts to ensure ongoing client satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
  • Upsell and Cross-Sell Opportunities: Identify and communicate upsell and cross-sell opportunities to the sales team to drive additional revenue.
  • Pre-Sales and Training Expertise: Build expertise in pre-sales, upselling, and training activities to better support clients and the sales team.
  • Client Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams to ensure successful execution of key client initiatives.
  •

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Sustainable Investing Knowledge: Foundational understanding of sustainable investing within financial services; familiarity with carbon markets is a strong advantage.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational, presentation, and communication skills; innovative, motivated, and client-focused with a strong commercial acumen.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage projects, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Team Collaboration: A team player capable of managing diverse and demanding client expectations with professionalism and adaptability.
  • Integrity: Demonstrates absolute personal and business integrity in all interactions and decisions.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in a client-facing role within financial services or sustainability. Previous exposure to sustainable investing or finance is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; additional certifications in sustainability or finance are a plus.
