The Business Technology team at MSCI is playing a vital role in a fast-paced transformation of our digital marketing practice.

 

We are looking for a Senior QA & Release Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our digital marketing related deployments. You will work closely with engineering, product, UX and project management teams to plan, execute, and automate testing activities. You will also oversee the software release process, ensure that everything is deployed smoothly per documented runbooks, covered by requisite smoke tests, rollback plans and release notes.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts related to software deployments.
  • Work closely with engineering, product, and UX teams to review feature requirements and ensure adequate test coverage for upcoming releases.
  • Perform manual and automated testing of the new features and functionality.
  • Identify, report, and track QA/UAT defects in our bug tracking system (JIRA).
  • Manage the release process and coordinate deployments across different environments, platforms, and teams.
  • Manage and support the implementation of automated testing in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
  • Work with development teams to define deployment pipelines, rollback strategies, and verification checks.
  • Monitor and help troubleshoot deployment activities, report & track issues and/or incidents.
  • Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and guidelines for QA and release engineering in Business Technology; liaise with counterparts across the company to share best practices.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related Engineering field
  • At least 7 years of experience in QA and release engineering for web-based ecosystems.
  • Experience in testing tools and frameworks for modern web applications (such as Cypress, Postman, JMeter)
  • Strong knowledge across the full spectrum of test disciplines (functional, integration, system, acceptance, smoke, usability, compatibility, non-functional, etc.) and when to employ them.
  • Hands-on experience with release engineering practices, including versioning, tagging, and release automation tools.
  • Experience in scripting languages, such as Python, Ruby, Shell, etc.
  • Experience in CI/CD tools and platforms, such as Azure DevOps.
  • Experience in web technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail, quality, and documentation standards.
