Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI Index Data Operations team provides high quality and differentiated equity data for construction of MSCI’s products such as Equity Indexes, Risk Models and ESG Ratings.

The Mandarin-speaking Float & Index Eligibility Associate will play a key role in supporting not only the China market but also other regional markets, by frequently reviewing asset screening data—such as index eligibility, free float, and liquidity. Additionally, the role involves contributing to data methodology enhancements and addressing external client inquiries across multiple markets.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of index eligibility screening methodologies and data quality rules, with a particular focus on China and other assigned markets. Conduct thorough quality checks on data points managed by the team.
  • Perform regular quality assessments of data, ensuring accuracy in line with product and index review schedules.
  • Independently handle data quality analysis presentations to various Data and Index committees, regularly contributing to methodology improvements.
  • Manage client queries related to index eligibility screening data, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and applications used by the Float and Index Eligibility team.
  • Lead or participate in projects related to index eligibility screening, ensuring that processes are streamlined and efficient.
  • Build expertise in China's market as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), serving as the go-to escalation point for any issues related to China's Index Eligibility and other assigned markets.

  • A self-driven work ethic, with the ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong ability to work with diverse cultures in a global team, with sensitivity to different cultural norms and styles. Flexibility in working hours is essential.
  • Attention to detail paired with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with good logical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Fluency in Mandarin is a must.
  • Commitment to excellence and quality control in data management.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity towards financial data and emerging technologies.
  • Strong understanding of how Indexes are utilized and the impact of corporate actions.
  • Minimum 2 or 5 years of relevant working experience in Financial Services, Broking, or Capital Markets. A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or equivalents like CA, CFA, FRM, MMS, MBA is advantageous.
  • Advanced Excel Skills are required, and knowledge of programming languages like Python, SQL, and Power BI is a plus.
