Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI Equity Indexes are maintained with the objective of reflecting the evolution of the underlying equity markets on a timely basis.



The Corporate Events Team is responsible for daily maintenance of index by reflecting impact of ongoing corporate events like M&As, spin-offs, bankruptcies, reorganizations and other corporate actions (e.g., stock splits, rights offerings, dividends, etc.) following the principles of replicability, consistency, continuity and minimizing turnover.



Depending on the nature of the corporate action there may be changes in index memberships, weights, size, style, and industry classifications.



The team is responsible for timely identification, review and assessing the replication considerations of corporate action related changes in client portfolios to facilitate appropriate maintenance of the Equity Indexes.

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Associate in MSCI Index Corporate Events, the candidate will participate in MSCI implementation decisions for few of the largest corporate action deals globally and thereby influence the replication decisions of the largest asset managers/asset owners and traders globally. The role requires a strong understanding of global capital markets along with practical aspects of index replication.



Responsibilities:



· Production oversight –

o Become an expert in MSCI Corporate Event Methodology and regional markets; Act as an escalation point for the regional team.

o Responsible for day-to-day organization of the team including holiday backup and BCP planning.

o Oversee the daily production and decide escalation to committees.



· Client Servicing -

o Collaborating globally for delivering timely and high-quality responses to queries raised by our global clients that include few of the largest asset managers/asset owners and traders globally.

o Represent MSCI Corporate Events team in front of our global clients and be ready to discuss complex cases, methodology enhancements at a very short notice.

o Review and approve corporate event client announcements detailing upcoming changes to the MSCI Indexes.

o Train client's on MSCI methodologies, corporate action treatment and products.

· Methodology and Process ownership -

o The role leads toward being a core member of a global decision committee to approve complex and/or large corporate actions implementation and methodological changes in keeping relevance to the security markets and clients' need.

o Implementing enhancements to the MSCI Corporate Events Methodology, processes, and applications.

· Cross-functional participation -

o Collaborate with other MSCI functions (Index Research, Data teams and IT) for smooth implementation of the Quarterly Index Rebalancing

o Participate in designing, scoping and implementation of new product launches relating to MSCI Indexes.

o Maintain and enhance internal database used for multiple downstream teams

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

· 5+ experience in the financial sector with direct practical experience in equity markets

· Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics or Mathematics (Including equivalents of CA, CFA, FRM, MMS, MBA). Engineering degree is preferred.

· Highly motivated individual with critical thinking, curiosity, and excellent communication skills.

· Ability to effectively work with diverse cultures in a global team; sensitivity and appreciation for diverse cultural norms/styles. Flexible in working hours

· Excellent planning and organizational skills

· Demonstrated track record in people management and handling of challenging environment

· Ability to understand impact of corporate actions on passive and active fund managers portfolio

· Strong excel, word and power point skills
