Your Team Responsibilities

  • Understanding of pages, extent, index tree structure, partitioning, temporal tables
  • Support for table partitioning, effective index design, stats policy and data archiving
  • Working on database encryption, compression and other advanced features
  • Planning, implementation and troubleshooting of AG/DAG setup
  • Performance troubleshooting; high cpu usage, memory and thread exhaustion
  • Very large database index and stats maintenance Always on replication support across global regions 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Excellent deep dive troubleshooting skills corelating DMVs with Sentry/SCOM
  • Administration and maintenance of DB Systems and related Microsoft Azure Cloud VMs
  • Planning and execution of On-Prem to Cloud database migration
  • Handling of database backups, restore and recovery scenarios
  • Troubleshoot P1/MI incidents and find the RCA, permanent resolution to ensure maximum uptime and database performance stability
  • Proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls
  • Proactive database review to optimize and simplify architecture and performance
  • Manage SQL Database Security
  • Performs capacity planning
  • Work on alerts fine tuning and ensure effective monitoring dashboards and customized database alerts
  • Patching of SQL Server and Cloud VM instances
  • Support for database operations, projects and Engineering deliveries Reviews, analyzes, evaluates, and recommends new/existing technologies that might increase productivity, reduce down time, or improve the quality of work related to SQL server systems
  • Establish and maintain Microsoft SQL Database architecture best practices, including procedures, guides, templates, and relevant documentation
  • 24X5 Database Operation Shift support including weekend on-call support and handling of database request tickets and alerts
  • Planning and execution of SQL Server migration and upgrade
  • Support and collaborate with Infrastructure, application and development teams
  • Determine and document DB policies, procedures and standards
  • Ensure Change process, required run books and scripts for the executions
  • Ensure SLA's & operational KPI’s are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • A university graduate and cloud/sql certifications (with 7-10 years relational database experience)
  • Experience should include DB design, capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back-up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies, database upgrade, migration, patching, tracing, SQL native tools, SQL Always On, replication.
  • Experience in transact-sql and shell scripting (Windows/Linux) for automation and sql build process
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as SCOM, Sentry, PagerDuty, Grafana
  • Fundamental knowledge of Devops, Terraform, Linux OS
  • Familiarity with cloud sql technologies technology (AWS/Azure/GCP) such as PaaS and CloudSQL.
  • Min 3+ years of experience with Cloud Infrastructure and Fundamental Cloud certification.
  • SQL management and monitoring tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and good problem solver
  • Hands on experience with DB standards
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to process information logically
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to assess future information needs so that the databases can evolve in an appropriate manner.
